Armin launches weekly A State of Sundays on Sirius XM

Today, on the day of the release of his fourth artist album ‘Mirage’, Armin van Buuren announces a new concept on SIRIUS XM Radio: ‘A State of Sundays’.A State of Sundays is a weekly 24 hour radio day of which the first episode will be broadcast on Sunday September 12th.

A State of Sundays will feature van Buuren’s critically acclaimed and award-winning ‘A State of Trance’ radio show. Every week, the two-hour show, that showcases the world’s best trance and progressive music, is listened to by over 10 million dance-lovers. In addition to the show, listeners of A State of Sundays will hear an exclusive hour with Armin’s personal collection, ranging from trance to progressive, house and down-tempo electronic music. Next to that, the show will feature a ‘Favourite Future DJ’ segment and special DJ sets by the likes of Markus Schulz, Dash Berlin, John O’Callaghan, Andy Moor and W&W.

Armin van Buuren:“Next year I’m celebrating 500 episodes and 10 years of my weekly radio show A State of Trance and I was looking for ways to expand the show. SIRIUS XM gives me the unique opportunity to provide my fans with even more new tunes and exclusive mixes from around the world. With Armin van Buuren’s ‘Mirage’ coming up on September 10^th, we’ve decided to arrange a special interview with the No. 1 DJ. An interview for which YOU were the journalist. A couple of days ago we asked you to send us all the questions you’ve ever wanted to pose to Armin. And so you guys and girls did. Hundreds of questions, some original, some funny and some way out of line.

We’ve gathered the best ones and would like to thank all of you for sending them. Accompanied by a camera team, we’re going to ask Armin your questions this afternoon. Friday, we will publish the interview online on Armin’s YouTube channel.

Sunlounger Remix Competition

After the ‘Another Day On The Terrace’ & ‘Sunny Tales’ albums will come the new Sunlounger LP, ‘A Beach Side Of Life’… and you could be playing a part in it…

In October Roger will deliver his sunset stroke to summer 2010. A ‘closing party’ if you like, Shah, under his most famous & revered alias will deliver the third Sunlounger album. Entitled ‘A Beach Side of Life’, the man to whom summer is more of an obsession than a season, will again enthral with an intense fresco of new music, infected & infused, at every turn, by the sun.

This is all ‘to-come’ though…

In advance of the album’s release Magic Island are launching a Sunlounger remix competition. Between now and the 30th of September the parts for three new Roger Shah Pres. Sunlounger tracks will be available on the server for electronic musicians of all denominations to download. You can get a hold of them from here.

If you’re a studio-hound with ‘the right stuff’, and the will to use it, and you’d like to see you name alongside Roger’s on a forthcoming SL release your time to shine is NOW!

Power up those studio boxes, put your PC into overdrive and get to work on a remap of ‘Son of a Beach’, ‘Trademark White’ or ‘Acapulco Waves’. Once you’re convinced you have created a remix masterpiece send a link for it to remix@magicislandmusic.com. All entries need to be in before the 30th September 2010 and the victors will be contacted shortly thereafter.

‘Nein, Mann!’ enters German Top 10!

With all the happenings around their banging minimal hit ‘Nein, Mann!’, German duo Laserkraft3d has an impressive success story to tell. Everything started as an underground hype, before ‘Nein, Mann!’ was suddenly picked up by the mass. Backed up with tight and catchy electro sounds, the track has grown into a huge summer anthem and secured the number one position of the German dance chart.

But this isn’t the end of the story. The extravagant track with its unique German vocal has taken over the 10th position of this week’s German Top Ten Single Chart! With that, ‘Nein, Mann!’ was the highest new entry within this week’s chart. It’s obvious….the dance scene möchte noch ein bisschen tanzen! Ja, Mann!

The remarkable voice belongs to Adam Young, singer of Owl city, famous for synth-pop tracks like ‘Fireflies’ and ‘Umbrella Beach’. Are you curious what caused this little trip into trance music? Acoustic session with Emma Hewitt

She may have been the best kept secret in dance music, but she won’t be for long. Australian singer Emma Hewitt balances between the top and the vertex of the dance scene. She’s worked with the likes of Dash Berlin, Chris Lake, Marcus Schössow, Cosmic Gate and Lange and brought home an International Dance Music Award for ‘Best Hi-NRG/Euro Track 2009’ for her Dash Berlin collab ‘Waiting’. But there’s a side of Emma some of you don’t know yet. As the beats fade and there’s nothing left but her voice to guide you, that’s when Emma’s talent outshines all the rest.

It’s her quiet, pure acoustic side. And you’re about to be introduced to it. Emma recorded a special acoustic version of her singing ‘Light’, the track she did with Marcus Schössow and Reeves. Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Records and Armada Music join forces

Perfecto Records, the UK record label of Paul Oakenfold, has joined forces with Armada Music.

Perfecto was set up by UK producer/DJ Paul Oakenfold in 1989, as the young dance movement was just coming up in Europe. Aim of the label was to find new talent and encourage them, rather than pressuring them to produce for commercial purposes. Oakenfold, who was nominated for a ‘Best Electronic/Dance Album’ Grammy twice and whose 2004 mix album ‘Another World’ has turned into one of the biggest selling dance albums of all time, felt it was the right time to start a collaboration with Armada Music. Paul:”I’m really happy to be involved in this joint venture with Armada. I think they are one of the most cutting edge electronic labels out there and I look forward to a fruitful relationship.”

Perfecto Records and Armada Music are both looking forward to working together. The first release after the joint venture will be the new Paul Oakenfold single, ‘Firefly’, a collaboration with UK singer Matt Goss, who used to be the lead singer of 80’s pop group Bros. (‘When Will I Be Famous’). Following ‘Firefly’, are releases by Robert Vadney and Kenneth Thomas, as well as a Perfecto Mix Compilation and Perfecto Classics album.

Sneijder – Away From Here (VANDIT)

Irish Wonder-kid Sneijder touches debuts on Vandit with the eagerly anticipated ‘Away From Here’. The original mix contains all the essential elements of a classic Vandit release with some really lush plucks, epic pads, killer drive and a lead melody which really grabs your attention on first listen. When you couple this with some dreamy vocal hits and sublime Piano chords in the main break then you are guaranteed an absolute floor filler. On Remix duties we have Russia’s finest new export in the name of Arty who has been causing a major stir in the world of EDM as late and as predicted his remix is a total winner. Dropping the BPM’s and taking things into more progressive territory, Arty twists ‘Away From Here’ into a more accessible track adding some great Tech influenced elements and stabs while still magically capturing the uplifting and melodic theme of the original. A release which I predict which is going to appeal to a broad range of DJ’s across the board and you would be foolish to miss this one!
